Doctors and Patients Run For Hope
Run for Hope in 22nd Consecutive Year, raising awareness and funds to fight cancer
Held at Marina Barrage on 15 October, a total of 16 doctors from National Cancer Centre Singapore (NCCS), ran with cancer survivors as a prelude to ‘Run For Hope 2014’ – a charity initiative by NCCS, Four Seasons Hotel Singapore and the Regent Singapore.
This year’s Run For Hope aims to achieve a target of 15,000 runners and hopes to raise (i) awareness and (ii) support for cancer patients and research. These could be in the forms of participation, messages on runner’s bibs, traditional and social media outreach, donations and proceeds from registration fees.
Proceeds from the event will go towards the NCC Research Fund, providing seeding, bridging and advancement funds for an array of translational and clinical research projects at NCCS. In 2012 and 2013, the NCC Research Fund disbursed about SGD 5.6 million for 17 cancer research projects related to cancers of the head and neck, breast, lung, colorectal, liver, bile duct and lymphoma, which affect and claim many lives each year.
Do sign up now and support cancer research!
Registration closes 26 October.
